Central Scotland Green Network supports community-led projects through new grant scheme

Grants for Community-led Green Network Projects now Available

Grants for small-scale, community led projects delivering the green network are now available through the CSGN Community Projects Fund.

Groups can apply for funding of up to £1,000 for projects that:
• deliver green network improvements on the ground; and/or
• increase community use of the green network; and/or
• Increase community involvement in the maintenance and enhancement of the green network locally.

The overall aim of the Fund is to foster community involvement in delivering the CSGN in their area.

The Fund is available to any community group wishing to undertake activity within the CSGN boundary and the scope of the Fund is deliberately broad. Projects must include at least an element of tree/woodland planting or management and the sorts of activity that are eligible include:

• Management/enhancement of existing woodlands/greenspace;
• Creation/planting of new woodlands/greenspace;
• Events & activities to celebrate/promote existing green network assets and to increase community use; and
• Improvements to walking and cycling networks that enhance access to woodlands/greenspace.

Funding can be used to purchase trees, plants, turf, tools and other materials and equipment for use by community groups, or to contract third party providers to undertake work on the community’s behalf.

The Fund is being administered by regional green network partner organisations and the Lothians & Fife Green Network Partnership is administering applications for projects located in Fife, Edinburgh, East, West or Midlothian.
