A new face at LFGNP

We are pleased to welcome Ross Woodside as a new member of our team based at Swanston.

Ross joined LFGNP in early September and brings experience from Edinburgh City Council where he has worked as a tree and woodland Officer and as a specialist looking at Dutch Elm Disease. He has also worked in commercial forestry consultancy firms undertaking tree surveys and planting programmes.

Ross will be involved in work to improve the Capital’s Millenium Woods which are well distributed across the City. Many of these small pockets of woodland were established at the turn of the century but now require work to bring them up to scratch. In addition to this Ross will also be involved in the wider work of LFGNP including the development of the Pentland Hills Woodland Action Plan and work in Roslin Glen.

Ross has qualifications in forestry and aquatic ecology and is a graduate of the University of Aberdeen and Napier University. He also has an HND in arboriculture and professional tree surveying qualifications. He has recently become an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Forester and  has previously travelled extensively in Asia, New Zealand and Australia, where he has also taught English as a foreign language.
